Description :

A technician at Boeing Satellite Systems, Inc. (BSS) completes testing of ASTRA 2D, a Boeing 376 HP satellite scheduled to launch on Dec. 19, 2000. The spin-stabilized satellite is the first Boeing 376 for Luxembourg-based Société Européenne des Satellites (SES) and one of two Boeing spacecraft ordered in August 1999 by SES, operator of Europe's leading ASTRA direct-to-home (DTH) satellite system. Equipped with 16 Ku-band transponders, ASTRA 2-D will help SES meet growing demand for its digital satellite services.
